what is a domain name?
A domain name is a unique address used on the Internet that identifies an Internet Web Site.
For example: www.any-name.co.uk. a domain name when typed into an Internet Browser will display the Web site hosted at that address.
are there any restrictions on domain names?
Domains ending with ".com", ".net" & ".org" MUST be 3 characters or more in length
and no more than 67. "
Domains ending in ".uk" Must be between 3 and 63 characters long and must not include characters such as |\<>?@~#!"£$%^&*()_+=/
who legally owns a Domain Name?
The legal owner of a domain name is the REGISTRANT, that's entered when the domain is
registered*.
what will my e-mail addresses be?
Once you have registered your preferred domain name (say, www.your-name.co.uk), your e-mail addresses can be <anything>@your-name.co.uk. You can have unlimited e-mail addresses and these will be forwarded to an existing e-mail account.
I already have a domain name, can I still use it?
If you already have a domain name registered we can arrange to have it transferred to one
of our servers, so you can continue to use it.
what if I
want to cancel my service or move to another host
That's fine, we will be sorry to see you go. If you want to cancel, we
simply delete your site and cancel your services.
If you want to move to
another host and retain your web site or domain name, as we don't charge any design costs up front
for design or modifications to your site, all we ask for is 24 months hosting and a £25 transfer fee
and we will transfer the site to your new host**.
